Baumgart Pictures
Charles Baumgart (1871-1927) and Sarah Leonard Baumgart and daughter
Sarah (Sadie) Baumgart(1895-1954) Charles came from Germany about 1890
and settled in Philadelphia. He was a Chef by trade, working in some of
the biggest hotels in the City at the time. In later years he bought a
farm in Williamstown New Jersey and lived there until his
death.
12/6/99 I just found information that Charles had a
brother William Baumgart who married Annie
Risky. If you have any information on this couple who lived in
Germany please contact me. 6//1/2000 A breakthrough! I found Charles
and Sarah Baumgart's marriage certificate Philadelphia 1894. Charles lists
his place of birth as Russia-Poland. I also found them in the 1890 census
living with brother William b. 1864 in Germany wife Henrietta b. Germany
June 14, 1877 son Albert age 2 and daughter Martha E. age 2 months both
born in Pennsylvania. Also living with them Sarah's sister born in Ireland
1873 Barbara Leonard. Now I am not sure if Annie Risky was William's
first wife or if she was their mother and William and Charles father was
William also????
6/6/2005 I am still working on this family, talk about your brick walls!
Well I found Henietta's information when she came to this county. She arrived May 24, 1896
the name of the ship was the Rhynland port of departure Liverpool, England arrival Philadelphia, Pa.
last address Kalisch , I believe this is in what is today Poland.
If you have any information on anyone in this family please, please contact me.
In searching for my family I found a great website with information on Germans from Russia.
They have said information by the Stahl-am-Karaman FSL (Baumgart) to be from UC Lipany, Prussia.

Sarah Leonard (1872-1935)
She came to the USA about 1890 with a younger sister, name unkown.
They came from Ireland, and in Philadelphia, she met and married Charles
Richard Baumgart, German immigrant, my grandfather.
Sarah was my inspiration for researching the family tree. Among her
things I found an old Bible and in it was this poem written in her
hand. Mrs. Chas. Baumgart is my name, Janvier Road is my dwelling
place, and heaven is my expectation. When I am dead and in my
grave, and all my bones are rotten. This little book will tell my
name, When I am quite forgotten.
Well, Grandmom I did not
forget.

Richard "Dick" was born in Philadelphia February 7, 1906,
and died May 1963. He had many trades, but his favorite hobby was working
on cars. He was happiest when he was under the hood of his "57"
Ford. .
