My Donnelly Album

The original Donnelly's were Patrick born in Ireland in 1845, and Sophia Kane Donnelly born in Ireland about 1850. I found them in the 1880 census living in Philadelphia with 3 children, Boabella age 9, James age 5 and Mary or Marie age 6 months. John our ancestor was born in 1881 .Patrick listed his occupation as a brick maker. There are many Donnellys that came to this country making them very hard to trace. I am doing my best.

Isabelle was the daughter of Nellie Gormley and John Donnelly of Philadelphia. She was athletic as a child and won many a swim meet, including one with her son when he was 17 and she was almost 40 and with child. Isabelle loved the outdoors and lived her later years at her home in Franklin Twsp. NJ on eighteen acres raising horses and german shephard dogs.She was "Mom" to many but her children were as follows:

Maryann, William, James, Muriel, Helen, Michael and Isabelle.

Nellie was born in England when her parents Michael Gormley and Maryanne Rodgers were in route to the USA. Michael and Maryanne were both from County Tyrone in Ireland and settled in Philadelphia. Nellie married John Donnelly son of Patrick Donnelly and Sophia Kane of Philadelphia.
